Becoming a member of Fleurieu Harmony requires no specialist musical or singing knowledge or experience. If you can hold a tune and are prepared to commit 100% to the chorus vision, goals and activities then you will be a welcome addition to the chorus.
When you come to your first practice you will be paired with a buddy to help you in the early stages. The music director will also give you some advice to help you find the voice part most appropriate to your range. No audition is necessary and later on if you feel that a different voice part is more appropriate then that's fine.
The Fleurieu Harmony repertoire consists of an eclectic mix of traditional barbershop arrangements, pop songs from the 60s and 70s, some Australian and Christmas songs and even a song from opera such as The Slaves Chorus from Verdi's Nabucco. Songs of most genres can be arranged in barbershop style and we love adding new ones to our repertoire each year.
All of our music is sung in a cappella style (without musical accompaniment) in four part harmony. They say that singing is good for the soul and we find singing in harmony is good for the whole person. It's a great way to lift your own emotions, reduce stress and of course to bring joy to the listener.
Membership fees are - members pay a once only chorus joining fee of $20 and a subscription of $50/year or pro rata for half a year and $4/ week attendance fee.
We'd love to see you at one of our open rehearsals on a Friday morning
